CBTC system

The Autotrén has a state-of-the-art Communications-Based Train Control System (CBTC), with automatic train operation (ATO), automatic train protection (ATP) and automatic train supervision (ATS) functions.

Allows two modes of operation:

  1. Pre-programmed. With pre-established routes based on historical demand.
  2. On request. Automatically adjusting route supply to demand in real time.
 

It enables the interoperability of vehicles with different propulsion technologies, or even from different suppliers on the same road network.

Passenger Management System with a high level of service.

  • Intelligent passenger grouping for systematic ride sharing (passengers traveling to the same destination are automatically grouped together).
  • Possibility of offering different levels of service (express -without intermediate stops-, semi-express and with regular stops).

Economic road infrastructure.

  • The Autotrén tracks are so economical because an elevated Autotrén viaduct is more like a pedestrian bridge than a vehicular one.
  • Autotren networks include elevated, level and/or underground tracks.
  • Largely use with precast elements.
  • The tracks can be bidirectional or unidirectional.
  • Minimum radius of the curve is 4 meters.
  • Maximum slope of 10%.
  • Construction and commissioning in phases.

Workshops and storage lanes.

  • Compact maintenance facilities.
  • Modular growth, with as many service bays as required.
  • Storage lanes strategically located along the road network that do not require additional buildings since vehicles enter and leave there in an automated manner.
  • It does not require large plots of land –as in the case of conventional trains or BRTs- for confinement yards.

  • Sized based on expected demand at each station location
  • With as many platforms in parallel as required

Access and Collection

  • The Autotrén system includes communication interfaces to be able to operate with a commercial access control and collection system.
  • It is possible to have the same access control and collection system as the rest of the city's public transport network.

Rolling Stock and Autonomous Driving Electric Vehicles:

  • State-of-the-art automotive electric drivetrain.
  • Interchangeable battery pack with heavy-duty lithium-ion cells.
  • Different interior configurations for up to 8 passengers, all seated.
  • Fast and robust Metro type sliding doors.
  • Sound ventilation; from ceiling to floor, the air is completely exchanged every 5 minutes.
  • Acceso universal (cumple estándar ADA).
  • Trains of up to 4 coupled vehicles.
  • Automatic docking and undocking.

Power system (stations):

  • Exchange of discharged battery packs for charged packs in Autotrén vehicles.
  • Reloading of downloaded packages.
  • Ensures recharging process under controlled environmental conditions.
  • Maximizes the life of lithium-ion battery packs.
